Elizabeth Jane Anastasi, 91

‘Born with the gift of laughter’

Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Anastasi, 91, of Boynton Beach, Florida, formerly of Harwich and Needham, Massachusetts, passed away on March 14, 2026.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald D. Anastasi; her children, Donald E. Anastasi Sr. (Michelle) and Donna (Anastasi) Geheb, her cherished grandchildren, Danielle and Kaylee Geheb, Donald Jr. and Joseph Anastasi. She is also survived by her dear sister, Mary Lou Vitello, along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Patricia “Patty” King, Ralph Beaton, and Robert “Bobby” Beaton.

Born on October 7, 1934, in Gardner, Massachusetts, Betty was raised in Quincy by her loving parents, the late Ambrose and Marion Beaton. She graduated from Quincy High School in 1952 and began her career as a bookkeeper. In 1963, she married the love of her life, Donald, and together they built a life centered on family, raising their children in Needham before retiring to Harwich and later to Boynton Beach, Florida. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she always put the needs of others before her own. She had a special gift for comforting those around her and knew how to make people feel cared for and understood.

Betty was a woman whose warmth and spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Known for her quick wit and love of laughter—fittingly captured in her yearbook quote, “Born with the gift of laughter”—she had a remarkable ability to bring joy to any moment. She loved to travel, exploring destinations across the United States and Europe, and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, from walks along the beach to time spent with those she loved most.

She was creative and enjoyed art in all its forms, whether coloring, knitting, crafting shell wreaths, or creating playful portraits with her grandchildren. She loved board games and puzzles and was proud of her unbeatable Scrabble skills. A devoted reader, a lover of plants, and someone with a well-known sweet tooth, Betty embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Betty will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her creativity, and the deep love she had for her family. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and light to those around her, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Service will be held at a later date.
