The town of Walpole is gearing up for its premier community event, as the Recreation Department prepares to host the annual Walpole Day celebration on Saturday, May 9.
The festivities are scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Stone Field, located at 135 School St., behind Town Hall. The event, which has grown into a major regional draw, serves as a showcase for local businesses, civic organizations, and town departments.
Parade and Field Festivities
The day’s events will kick off with the traditional Walpole Day Parade. The procession typically features local high school marching bands, youth sports teams, and creatively designed floats from community groups and local businesses.
Following the parade, the action shifts to the field, where organizers have curated a wide range of activities for all ages. According to the Recreation Department, this year’s "Kidz Zone" will return with several bouncy houses and interactive games. The Walpole Police and Fire Departments will also be on-site with a display of emergency and rescue vehicles, providing children with an opportunity for an up-close look at the town’s first responder equipment.
Vendor Market and Entertainment
The central hub of the event will be a sprawling vendor market, featuring dozens of local artisans, retail businesses, and non-profit organizations.
"Walpole Day is our biggest event of the year," the Recreation Department stated in its event overview. "It’s a chance for the community to see everything our town has to offer in one place."
Live musical entertainment is scheduled throughout the afternoon on the main stage, while a dedicated food court will host various local vendors serving lunch, snacks, and refreshments.
Community Spirit
The event is free to attend, though some specific activities within the Kidz Zone may require a nominal fee or a wristband. In addition to the field events, several local organizations are expected to hold raffles and demonstrations ranging from youth gymnastics to martial arts.
Residents with specific questions regarding the event, or businesses interested in late-stage vendor opportunities, are encouraged to contact the Walpole Recreation Department at recreation@walpole-ma.gov.
